Need Wireless router connection help!!?

I have bought a brand new cisco wireless router. every time i hook it up my computer loses internet and the wireless router doesnt give out internet. iive tried many different arangements and none have worked. ive watched many videos and still nothing. ive have and arris modem and a cisco router and a windows computer xp. PLZ HELP
