What in a pressure gradient in winds?

Pressure is depicted on surface weather charts by lines of equal pressure. At the center of these lines are either high or low pressure. When those lines are very close together, that is a tight pressure gradient and the winds will be gusty and strong. Likewise, a slack or weak gradient means the lines are farther apart and thus the winds will be lighter. a href="http://www.climate.washington.edu/stormking/PressureGradients.html" rel="nofollow"http://www.climate.washington.edu/stormk…/a
